Rosie Posy’s new lease of life

Rosie Posy’s new lease of life

Rosie Posy came to us in a bit of sorry state after the death of her elderly owner.

Her fur was matted beyond recognition, and she had an upper respiratory infection affecting her eyes and ears. After having blood tests and half a kilo of fur shaved off at the vets, she settled into the shelter enjoying cuddles and pats.

Rosie was fostered by a lovely couple who patiently waited a month for her until she had eye surgery and was recovered. They visited her every week for pats and brushes until they could finally take her home. They were well-prepped for her care, and had several sets of steps ready for her so she could move easily from one comfy napping spot to another.

Already well on the road to recovery after her care at CPW, Rosie Posy is now a completely new cat and very happy in her new home.

Her new folks provided the following update soon after taking her home:

“Rosie settled in very quickly and easily, not shy at all in the new space,” they said. “We kept her in a small room for a day and a half before gauging her interest in the connected living room –very high! She has since graduated to the whole flat room by room.

“She is very bold and still likes to patrol about for a bit before settling in one of a few cosy spots for a nap. She also has decided to sleep on the bed with us.

“In general, she is an absolute sweetheart, and she often follows us around the flat when we're pottering about. She likes being up high, so we've carefully placed stairs for her to enable some safe climbing. She seems very happy, and we are too.”

A few weeks later, we had another report and more happy pictures:

“Rosie sems very happy and still quite active for such an oldie. She is not particularly enticed by some toys but quite interested in chasing string. There's a little octopus on a string that she is quite taken with, but instead of chasing it she just occasionally snuggles up to it and rubs her face on it.

“We've also taken her out on some walks in a harness, which she loves, and she complains very loudly when we have to bring her back inside. She's looking a lot healthier too, she's put on a little bit of weight and doesn't feel quite so bony or fragile. She loves to stretch out her back legs when sleeping, which can sometimes look quite silly.”

Here’s a great clip of much-fluffier Rosie investigating catnip flakes hidden in crinkly brown paper: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/mZ29KroQqQ8.
