The Annual General Meeting has been set for Sunday 17 July 2016, 2pm in the Brooklyn Community Centre Hall, 18 Harrison Street, Brooklyn. All members are very welcome.
If you’re a member (or intend to become one), you might like to consider increasing your involvement with CPL by standing for committee. The committee is very active and has consolidated many new and forward-looking practices in all aspects of governance over the last two years. Particular skill sets which would add value to our committee are marketing and sales, gaining corporate sponsorship, fundraising, social media and website management, secretarial experience, and volunteer management.
The Committee is made up of ten Committee members - President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary and 6 other members.
If you would like to stand for any of these positions on Committee at the AGM, there are some things you need to know about eligibility under the constitution and Charities Services criteria.
You need to be a financial member for the year 2016/2017.
You need to be nominated by two other members who are also financial members for 2016/2017 at the time they nominate you.
In addition, under the Charities Services criteria you must:
Not have been convicted of a crime involving dishonesty
Be 16 years of age or over
Must not have an undischarged bankruptcy
What would be involved?
You will be expected to attend the monthly Committee meetings and be actively involved in the work that goes in to keeping CPL running and moving forward. This includes fundraising, communications, marketing, the desexing programme, the shelter, Op Shop and caring for/managing the volunteers.
If you feel you can offer CPL valuable knowledge, experience and commitment, you’re very welcome to visit the shelter and pick up a nomination form. You can also email us at email@example.com to have a form sent out, or download the attached form below.
Complete the nomination form (signed by the two financial members nominating you) and either post it to Cats Protection League (Wgtn) Inc., PO Box 12157, Thorndon, Wellington 6144, or scan and email it to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Nominations received by Wednesday 13 July will be included in the ballot papers. If more people are nominated than there are positions available, a vote will be needed. You may be asked to speak at the AGM about what you can offer as a committee member.
Please contact President Iona Anderson on 04 475 8434 or email@example.com if you would like more information.
