Cats Protection Wellington is run almost entirely by cat-loving volunteers. If you can offer your help in the following areas, please get in touch.
Help at our Shelter
We have a roster of shelter helpers going into the shelter twice a day. Their duties include feeding the cats, doing dishes, scooping and cleaning litter trays, and general cleaning. We often need stand-in helpers when the regulars are unable to come, and permanent replacements when shelter helpers leave.

Caring for up to 50 cats at any one time costs a lot of money. Food, litter, vet bills - they all cost! We survive through donations and fund-raising. If you'd like to help, there are a number of ways you can donate. To find out how, go to our Make a donation page.
Interested in giving an older cat a loving forever home but worried about how much it might end up costing you in vet bills? Talk to us about our Care for Life sponsorship programme. Cats aged 13+ and/or with ongoing health issues are eligible to be fostered. You commit to love and care for them for the rest of their lives and we cover all agreed medical expenses. We can't guarantee how long you'll have them for but we can take the financial worry out of choosing an older cat.
CPW could not continue without fundraising! There are a number of ways you can help:
Annual Street Day Appeal - we need collectors, site coordinators and general help with organisation.
Street Stalls ( for our CPW calendar sales)
And if you have any good ideas for raising more funds for our cats, we'd also love to hear from you!
We also need...
Good quality cat food (wet and dry), fleece blankets, newspapers, and lots and lots of kitty litter.
