Carlton is back at the shelter looking for his forever indoor home. Carlton (used to be Oreo) originally came to us in Jan 2022 and before that had been living as a stray until a kind samaritan found him in early 2021. He was fostered in Aug 2022 but after his health took a turn, the foster was unable to manage his condition.
Carlton is a sweet and gentle boy. He has anxiety and can get himself quite stressed and worked up, which has resulted in stress cystitis and as of recently, bladder stones, that required surgical intervention. Once he is relaxed and comfortable with you he is a lovely boy who enjoys pats and playing with toys.
Carlton is also FIV positive which means his immune system is weakened. To help him live a long and healthy life, and to prevent him from spreading it to other cats, Carlton must be kept as an indoor-only pet.
Carlton will be happiest in an indoor home (ideally with some kind of catio) with humans that are gentle and patient as he needs time to trust and open up to you. He should be the only pet and isn't suited to a home with children or a busy lifestyle.
